Pontiac GTO: Suspension

Does wheelhop plague your new GTO? This is a common side effect in independent rear suspensions caused by the inability to properly dampen vertical wheel movement with applied torque. Combine this with the minimal rear suspension travel of the new Goat and your bouncing off the bumpstops every time you stab the throttle. An easy solution to this is stiff rear spring rates, however ride quality then becomes an issue as well as excessive oversteer. The best solution is a set of BMR Drag Bags

The factory at least gave us a strut tower brace for the new GTO but, unfortunately, it is little more than a cosmetic piece. The factory brace is made from thin wall 1" x .083" seamed tubing and does little to reinforce the strut towers. The BMR strut tower brace is made from 1-5/8" x .095" seamless tubing and uses heavy duty 3/16" mounting plates.

BMR subframe connectors provide the ultimate in frame rigidity and add to the overall handling ability of the car. They are manufactured from 1.5" x 2" x .120" rectangular tubing and laser cut, 1/4" mounting and weld plates. The subframe connectors tie into 5 structural areas and provide 4 seperate weld points. The rear mount replaces the factory suspension cradle mount allowing full accessibility to the cradle after the subframe connectors have been installed. 04´ -05´ GTO Models

Most tracks require driveshaft safety loops for ET´s quicker than 12.99 in the quarter. Our NHRA legal safety loop welds onto the factory floorpan reinforcement and has locating holes for proper positioning. Two piece design allows installation without removing driveshaft and will fit driveshaft diameters up to 3.5". NOTE WILL NOT CLEAR ´05 RESONATOR.

Koni makes one of the best sets of adjustable rear shocks for the late model GTO´s. Valving adjustment can be done through the trunk by simply turning the supplied knob. Great handling mod and very useful in controlling wheelhop.
